Well our 1st
Annual Harper Longhorn Walk-A-Thon was not rained out unfortunately the awards
and prize assembly was
so
the prizes and awards have been handed out today
during class.
We feel blessed and are grateful for the support and success of our 1st HWAT. We are looking forward to next year!!
We have 567 students
and only a hand full of students were not able to participate.
The Elementary Students walked 1618 miles and raised $11,625.
The Middle School Students walked 1677 miles and raised $7,290.
The High School Students walked 1291 miles and raised $2,760.
The Teachers/Staff and Parents walked 321 miles and raised $734.
We walked a total 4,907 miles which could have taken us to spend some time with your student and see where 4000+ miles could have taken them! (such as...starting at the Statue of Liberty in New York, to then to the White House in Washington DC, to Disney World in Orlando Florida, and then to Six Flags over Texas in San Antonio, through HARPER, to Disneyland in Los Angeles, and on to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and finally, end at the Capitol City of Oregon, Salem!)
We had 39 Classroom Sponsors, 5 Banner Sponsors and 10 T-Shirt Sponsors a big thank you to Yarizma Lozpe for the 2007 Logo Design.
A thank you to Daisy Martyn for the beautiful Quilted American Flag wall hanging, and to Mr. and Mrs. Clark for the Longhorn Calf and to the Mt. Home Opry Restaurant for the Gourmet dinner raffle donations.
With all the donations and money raised, our total Fundraising amount is $37,077, which will be used to fund many of the school activity accounts what a great accomplishment!!!
We also want to thank Oren Draznin and Colin Lee for their help with the sound system, announcements and music for the day, and to Revolution Radio for their remote broadcast. Also, a thanks to Morgan Crowe for sharing the PIG.
And about the Pig Mr. and Mrs. Lake won fare and square the pig kissing contest Mr. Eckert also won just not sure how ??? Thanks for being great sports. Each has been awarded a stunning gold pig on a green and gold stand with their names engraved.
There were more than 100 prizes donated, (a special thanks to Ruth Green for helping contact and gather many of the prizes). Here is a list of the winners
